BALIKPAPAN: PT PLN (Persero) builds a steam power plant of 2x100 MW in Kariangau, Balikpapan, with investment value of IDR2.5 trillion to anticipate power shortage in East Kalimantan.
The development starts since the Governor of East Kalimantan Awang Faroek Ishak laid the first stone with the President Director of PLN Dahlan Iskan.
As planned, the steam power plant development is targeted to be completed by mid 2013. The 2.5-trillion-rupiah investment was derived from PLN's own budget and bank loan.
Based on assumption, by 2013 electricity peak load in East Kalimantan may reach 446 MW with average growth of peak load of 12.1%. The number is far above the assumed peak load growth rate at network system in East Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan and South Kalimantan which is only 10.5%. (NOM)
