Indosat's net income free falls to IDR647.2 billion

JAKARTA: A telecommunication operator, PT Indosat Tbk, booked a net income decline of 56.7% to IDR647.2 billion from IDR1.49 trillion in 2009.

In a financial statement to Indonesia Stock Exchange, the net income decline was due to falling revenue in noncellular business by 16.7% to IDR3.77 trillion in 2010 from IDR4.52 trillion in 2009.

Total operating revenues, however, slightly climbed 5.2% to IDR19.79 trillion from IDR18.82 trillion following the the hike in cellular revenue by 12.1% to IDR4 trillion in 2010 from IDR3.97 trillion in 2009. Fixed data (MIDI) and fixed telephone service contributed 81%, 12% and 7%, respectively, to total consolidated revenues.

The company noted an operating income rose by 8.1% in 2010 to IDR3.47 trillion from IDR3.21 trillion in 2009. EBITDA in 2010 grew 9.7% to IDR9,625.9 from IDR8,774.4 in 2009, with EBITDA margin slightly up by 2% to 48.6%. Operating expenses widened by 4.6% in 2010 due to hike in marketing and depreciation expenses as well as amortization.

The decresing net income led to the 56.8% decline in net earnings per share in 2010 to IDR119.1 from IDR275.7 in 2009.

Today, ISAT stocks were closed up 0.96% or IDR50 to IDR5,250 per share.(NOM)
